Registration / Inscription
- Approximate registration = 1000 players
- About 100 players less than last year

NOTE:
- Competitive starts at the U10 level.
- A lot of work had to be done to get enough girls at the U11 level. RUSC needs to find a way to get players and parents interested in playing at the competitive level.
- The competitive teams play in the Eastern Region Soccer League (ERSL) and Eastern Ontario District Soccer League (EODSA).
- House league coaches must be looking for players that have the interest and skills to play at a higher level.
2010 Adult Teams / Équipes adultes 2010
- Women: WR1, WR2 and WR4
- Men: MR5 and MC4
NOTE:
- The adult teams play in the Ottawa Carleton Soccer League.
Uniform Change
For U5 and U7 – no change
- one colour jersey, black shorts and a pair of black socks
- Sponsors Tim Horton’s for U5 and Mc Donald's for U7
For U9 (8 years old and older), U11 and U14 :
- Each player receives 2 jerseys , black short s and a pair of black socks
- Home game jersey: Gold
- Away game jersey: Blue
For U17 – no change
- players that are returning at the U17 level in 2011 will receive 2 free jerseys.
NOTES:
- RUSC website has a section that explain the uniforms for each age groups.
- Jerseys no longer come with number or sponsors. Players can add numbers at a cost. Multiple jerseys with the same number are OK.
- Players who come from the RUSC U5/U7 teams will receive 2 jerseys in 2011 included in their registration. Players that do not come from the RUSC U5/U7 will need to pay for a complete uniform.

RUSC and OSA Administrative Forms
All coaches and assistant coaches must complete the following forms:
- Police Record Check – good for 2 years
- Code of conduct
- OSA form
- OSA waiver
Treatment Of Players
- All players registered shall be provided an equal opportunity to develop their soccer skills and abilities in an environment that promotes teamwork, respect, skill development, personal growth and self-confidence.
- The Club adopts a zero tolerance policy against harassment, abuse and discrimination regarding its players. Any knowledge or incidents of sexual harassment or misconduct involving players shall be reported immediately to the police and the team, official or player whom is alleged to have committed the sexual harassment or misconduct will be suspended indefinitely from the activities pending the outcome of the investigation.
General rules
- Opposing coaches and players should shake hands after each match.
- Parent/coaches and spectators should be there to enjoy and encourage the activity of the youngsters.
- A player who comes back from a medically treated soccer injury must have a written permission from a physician. No written permission , no play.
- Spectators and team benches should be on opposite sides of the field.
- No alcoholic beverages or tobacco products will be consumed or allowed near the playing area.
- Spectators to stay 3 feet away from sidelines to avoid injury and not to interfere with players.
- Players should be finished dinner by 17h30
- Players must bring their own water bottle
- Full rotation of players who wish to be goalkeeper
- Goalkeepers must wear colours which are distinguishable from all outfield players and the referee.
- The referee enforce the rules of the game
- Any players that are not on your team roster are not registered. Anyone not registered and playing soccer, will null and void the insurance for the rest of the players.
Jewellery
Reference: Law-4 OSA Memo
- All items of jewellery (necklaces, rings, bracelets, earrings, leather bands, rubber bands etc.) are strictly forbidden and must be removed. Using tape to cover jewellery is not acceptable.
- Medic Alert Bracelets are allowed. Where possible they should be the soft Velcro style which does not present any danger. If the medical alert bracelet is the normal metal type it should be either covered by a sweat band or taped. If taped the taping should be such that the description of the medical problem is clearly visible.
Code for Coaches
- Your responsibility is to ensure that players are having “fun”. (Remember children are not miniature professionals)
- Never ridicule or scold a youngster for a mistake. Remember no child intentionally makes a mistake.
- Applaud loudly a good effort by your team and the opponent.
- Coaching at this level is a collective collaboration. If we all work together, all our youngsters will improve.
- Encourage all youngsters to develop basic skills but remember to be reasonable in your demand on their energy and enthusiasm.
Coaches should follow:
- Dress appropriately
- Be punctual
- Must be very positive and enthusiastic
- Must be organized
- Personal Conduct (above reproach)
- Understand the rationale for micro Soccer, Coach in the game if necessary (be on the field)
Playing time:
- For all age categories, the total playing time shall be divided into two equal playing halves with a five minute break at half time.
Game Cancellation:
- Games may only be cancelled by the referee, or by the Convenor in the case that no referee is required at the game if, in his or her opinion, the weather is of danger to the players. Normal rainfall will not be justification to the cancellation of a game. A game cannot be cancelled and rescheduled between coaches without the approval of Convenor of the division.
Meeting with your players and parents:
- Meet with players and parents before game day.
- Should not be at your house, a field where players and parents can socialize is ideal.
- Issue uniforms and contact the equipment manager if necessary
- Remind parents about new uniform rules and the fact that no other uniforms will be supplied by RUSC. (Website for more details)

- Inform them of the game schedule location (website)
- Inform them about picture day and the need for all players to show-up
- Get your administrative staffs for the entire season
- State your expectations from parents and players (arrival time, be there for practice, team play, etc...
- Provide a player development plan
- If U7 or U9 teams, pass along importance of technical training session
Technical Training for U7 & U9
Training for players and coaches
- Other than game day, players and coaches will be required to participate in three training sessions with our Technical Director.
- This will teach coaches and players new drills and skills based on the RUSC Developmental Program. Training will be held at Dutrisac Park, on Mondays for the U7 and on Tuesday for the U9.
- Players and coaches must be on the field at 6:45 pm as a team to start warm-up exercise. The clinics start at 7 pm.
Game U5 & U7
Equipment:
- Ball size 3
- Goals: Pop up goals or cones
- Soccer shoes with cleats (preferred), shin pads and jersey tucked-in.
- Non-uniform clothing is allowed based on weather conditions, but uniforms must still distinguish teams.
Rules of the game for U5 & U7
- Plays 4 Vs 4 with no goalkeeper
- Referee: a referee is not needed for this age group. Instead a parent or a coach supervise the game for safety . All rule infringements shall be briefly explained to the offending player.
- Offside: there shall be no offside called during these games.
- Fouls and Misconduct: no caution or send off shall be issued to players. If a child is being too rambunctious then the game official will ask the coach to make a substitution of that player to give the child a chance to calm down before returning to play.
- Free Kicks: all free kicks shall be direct.
- Penalty Kick: for this age group there will not be any penalty kicks called.
- Kick-in only. No throw in.
- Opposing players must be four (4) yards away from the ball until it is in play.
- No slide tackles to be allowed in this age group.
- No score or standings shall be kept.
- Substitutions: At any stoppage and unlimited.
- Playing time: Each player SHALL have equal playing time.
Game U9 & U11
Equipment:
- Ball size 4
- Goals: Goal posts
- Soccer shoes with cleats, shin pads and jersey tucked-in.
- Non-uniform clothing is allowed based on weather conditions, but uniforms must still distinguish teams. A player, Coach or other Team Official who tries or does impede, harass or otherwise intimidate a game official or opposing Team Officials, shall be subject to severe disciplinary action. The Team and its Officials will be assessed penalties that the Discipline Committee imposes in accordance with OSA Published Rules.

- Plays 6 Vs 6 plus goalkeepers
- Referee: As per FIFA. A registered referee is required for this age group. RUSC uses this age group as a field training opportunity for referees. All rule infringements shall be briefly explained to the offending player.
