May 2010 Newsletter
Hello RUSC soccer players, families and fans!
There have been many changes at RUSC. After many years building this Club, two returning Executives members have decided to come back: Bernard Tremblay as Vice-President and Glenn Camus as Equipment Manager. The new faces are Christine Rozon as Treasurer, Kirsten McLaughlin as Secretary and Don Lemire as mini convenor.
The house league operations has been realigned and simplified. Changes in uniform and team make-up (friend and coach request) methodology have been implemented to optimize our business process and to become more efficient and cost effective.
The old way of providing new coloured uniforms every year for house league players was costly to administer. Time pressure to find sponsors so that uniforms could be ready for the beginning of the season was always a challenge for RUSC and for our uniform supplier. Overall, it cost RUSC more money than what the sponsorship brought in. Furthermore some parents viewed the practice of a yearly new uniform a waste, as most players don’t wear-out their uniform on completion of the season.
Depending on the age group, players will be issued for ONE TIME ONLY a gold jersey for home games, a blue jersey for away games, a pair of black shorts and a pair of black socks. Jerseys will not have a number or sponsor. Players will be able to re-use their soccer uniform year after year, as well as passing it along to other siblings. After
the first uniform issue, RUSC will no longer supply uniforms. The date for the first uniform issue is based on the age group of the player and the RUSC website should be read to understand the implementation phase of this initiative. Any further uniform purchase will be by the parents/players on an as needed basis at the Fashion Workwear store. Please visit our website for its location.
In the past, the friends request has been abused by some coaches, players and parents to stack-up teams which, in turn, have caused other coaches, players and parents to be rightfully unhappy. It was also increasingly difficult to accommodate every possible request. We must point out that one outcome of playing soccer is making new friendships.
Our primary focus this season will be high quality training for both players and coaches. With these new skills, both players and volunteer coaches will be able to improve and play soccer with confidence! These clinics will be open to all youth players and coaches, and we hope that everyone takes advantage of this opportunity.
The RUSC website has undergone many changes under the direction of our new Webmaster Dominic Dubé.
Please visit our web site for a complete explanation of our uniform policy change, implementation schedule, and cost break-down of uniforms plus where they can be purchased.
Have a great soccer season!
Yours in Soccer,
André Boucher
